I had my workplace purchase one of these for me. It is not anything flashy, it just works. I have not noticed it, and that is a good thing.
The wireless connection simply works. It has a very understated design, it looks great. The ergonomics are practically ideal for me (but it is a large mouse so it might not work for everyone). The surface treatment is as simple as possible, raw ABS lacking any sort of rubberized coating, and funnily enough I would say the *absence* of a special coating is the single greatest feature of the mouse. I really hate those coatings.
Magic Trackpad. Expert Trackball. SlimBlade Trackball. MX Ergo Trackball. TrackPoint.
This is the progression of pointing devices that I have tried in recent years. Unfortunately, none of them were completely comfortable. Even the ergonomic trackball would be uncomfortable to use by the end of the workday. Remembering the days when I used a TrackPoint with my ThinkPad, I managed to find a keyboard equipped with it, only to find that it just was not the same.
Determined to find something that did not make my wrist and forearm hurt, I stumbled across the Hansker. I was very doubtful about spending money on a device that is essentially in its first design iteration, but I was not keen on trying anything else from the likes of Logitech or a generic Chinese brand, much less foray into the realm of gaming mice. So I went for it and got the Productivity mouse.
The Productivity mouse looks just as good in person as it does in the product photos. The clean simple design and color pairs well with my keyboard (another factor behind my purchase). The mouse is solid in construction, with no creaks or rattles, whilst still managing to remain lightweight. Initially, the battery life was dismal, providing only a few days' worth of use. But that was addressed with a firmware update, which improved battery life to about a week's worth of use.
I waited a few months before posting this review. I can earnestly say that this is a well-designed mouse that is aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to use for extended periods. Two possible improvements to include in the next revision: a larger battery and a tilting scroll wheel for horizontal scrolling.
This mouse is everything I was looking for! It helps with my wrist pain, and is probably the only aesthetically pleasing ergonomic mouse I've seen. Using a regular mouse feels incredibly uncomfortable after making the switch. The Hansker is comfortable, good for large hands, and the button switches feel great.
It's awesome
Almost perfect but the back button is in the perfect place to interfere with picking up the mouse. It seems they valued form over function.
I have eczema on my right hand so I don't sweat much out of my fingertips. Picking up the mouse was a learning curve. Hooking my little finger under the lip works fine but the left side of the mouse doesn't have a great place.
Sensor performance is what you would except out of a modern quality sensor.
The clicks are fine, sound nice but not too loud. The scroll wheel on the other hand the too difficult to press. I do Autocad for work sometimes and the scroll click is almost the most used mouse click. On a vertical mouse this ofcourse is magnified. Probably not hanskers fault.
The software update has fixed the battery life issues. I was only getting a few days, leaving the mouse on overnight previously. Been a week since the update now and still haven't needed to charge it.
The coating is smooth with the slightest texture. Very comfortable and with a little bit of sweat, makes it alot easier to pick up the mouse.
Overall I would recommend it. But the price is going to put alot of people off. If your looking for a specific vertical mouse without a pinky finger rest and a good quality sensor... this is your only option. At least it's a good one.
